This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The United States prides itself on being diverse. As a result, my classroom is filled with a myriad of cultures. Why let their language hinder them in becoming who they want to be?
The majority of my students come from low income families.
Most of these students migrate to the U.S. in search of a better education and more opportunities in their lives. These students are very eager to learn, because of their situation back in their homeland. They actually appreciate an education as well as the resources this country has to offer.
My Project
Children at this age are visual learners. My students will be able to do hands-on activities with these materials, serving a greater purpose in the classroom. They will be able to work with each other in groups, pairs, or one on one with the teacher. These resources will help establish the foundations for reading and writing, benefiting them with their future careers. I am requesting literacy centers for comprehension, fluency, phonemic activities, etc which will help my kids manipulate the skills better, especially my English Language Learners. I am also requesting a language software for my students, which will be useful in my classroom since it is an interactive software. This will help them with a foundation of the English Language.
If this project gets supported, you will be helping a great number of students become future doctors, lawyers, police officers, teachers, etc.
