Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic, curious, thoughtful bilingual learners. They enjoy learning through collaborative projects that drive their success and discoveries. Every one of them comes to school eager to learn and engage in authentic exploration that prepares them for success.
Despite having difficulties accessing resources, they never lose their drive for learning and achieving.
At their young age, they are aware of the shortage of resources at reach due to their family’s financial hardships and our school’s limited supplies. We learn early on to respect and take superb care of our resources and classroom, possessions because we understand how imperative they are to engaging lessons.
My students are truly a unique and incredible group that inspire me every single day to overcome all barriers in our journey together.
My Project
Having a designated area that is attractive, relaxing and well equipped with an assortment of books and writing materials will encourage the enjoyment of learning. Sit spots on the carpet will allow my students to have their own special place in the classroom to listen to stories and write. Having Sit Spots and Writing Journals to call their own can allow my students to be involved in literacy which directly impacts their learning.
Children who read very little usually have poor reading skills, struggle with reading and avoid it.
I want to provide my ESL students will all the opportunities available to them to succeed by praising their milestones and I know Sit Spots and writing journals will allow them the opportunity to love literacy and see the wonders it can unlock for them.
