Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Struggling to learn and keep up with grade level material is not easy for typical children these days. Add on a disability and this makes it even more difficult. Some of the students that I work with only focus on school during school hours. As sad as it is, at home they are faced with other responsibilities.
Being a Learning Support Teacher, I am faced with so many different levels of learners.
The students work in a supplemental reading program in which they need headphones to speak into. The program monitors the students comprehension, fluency and so many other components. This program is geared toward their level. The headphones are constantly breaking and there is limited amounts left.
My Project
These materials will help my students become more successful in school. Not having enough headphones or even working ones can really put a damper in our reading program. The student's need to speak into the headphones in order to log in and also share answers and practice fluency. They allow them to hear their voice! This is super important.
Struggling in school for fifth graders can cause some emotional issues and effect confidence.
These math materials are a great way to practice and brush up on basic skills. The whiteboards are an excellent way to check understanding for quick checks.
