My students need an assortment of reading books on varied levels to enhance their comprehension skills and also to assist in building fluency. These include a set of A to Z mysteries and the Geronimo Stilton series.
Do you remember the excitement you felt the first time you read a book you couldn't put down? Or the wondrous feeling that captures your imagination, as if you are right there experiencing the story? My students have yet to discover such adventurous reading.
My students are currently third, fourth and fifth graders who come from varied social and economic backgrounds with different learning abilities.
Many of these special students do not have access to books outside the school setting. Creating a lending library will give my students numerous opportunities to read exciting books at home. Encouragement to read will naturally build upon comprehension skills and fluency which will lead to a love for learning.
My Project
Creating a classroom library with a variety of mystery, detective books such as the A to Z Mystery Series, and the Geronimo Stilton Series will certainly make a difference in my student's reading. My students will be given many opportunities to read independently; in small group; or with a partner to build upon comprehension skills and fluency and most importantly building confidence. This will lead to my goal of achieving life long readers.
"Succeeding With Understanding What You Read" will allow my students to continue to grow as readers. The students I teach, learn in many different ways and achieve on varied levels. Reading is a struggle as they all experience learning weaknesses. Your donations will give my students the boost they need to succeed as well as a most precious gift.... the gift of reading.
