This upcoming school year I will be teaching students with Autism. It is the first time this school has had a classroom for students with Autism. I am so excited and look forward to meeting them in a few, short weeks!
My students will be learning everything their peers are learning just in a different way that meets their individual needs.
They all have different needs but that won't stop them from exceeding expectations. They are capable of so much and need the proper materials and resources to help them succeed.
My Project
Sometimes students with Autism have difficulty knowing what to expect during certain situations or events. It can cause frustration, confusion, anger, and many more emotions. Social Stories would really benefit my students daily.
Social Stories are a great way to provide information to students about a specific situation or event.
Social Stories can be created about ANYTHING! Some examples include how to wash your hands, how to walk down the hallway, how to ask for a pencil, how to ride a bus, how to be a ring bearer in a wedding, how to ask a friend to play, how to keep my hands to myself, how to act during a fire drill and so much more!
