Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are new, fourth graders who are eager to learn and have been excited to see their new teacher and classmates daily through our virtual platform. They are a sweet bunch, who have been troopers through this new way of learning even with all the technical difficulties we face. They come from low socio-economic backgrounds and therefore, do not have the appropriate tools to succeed in online learning. They deserve to have the same access and tools students from other areas have.
Students should never have to worry about having the appropriate resources/tools to be successful in their learning!
During these unprecedented times, children already have a lot to worry about with current issues. Learning from home should not be stressful or impossible for them.
My Project
Students benefit from having conversations both with teachers and peers, but as we have transitioned to distance learning, students are unable to communicate the same way they would have done in the classroom. Since online learning has begun, my students have been eager to express themselves, but constant background noise from home discourages them. The headsets will allow them to listen clearly, focus during live virtual learning, as well as be able to share their thoughts clearly to their peers without any interruptions.
These headsets will give them a well-deserved, high quality, virtual learning experience!
My students do not have the privilege of having a quiet learning space but with your donation, they will have a better chance in avoiding distractions and focusing on their learning. Each student will get a headset with microphone that will give them confidence to participate and continue to learn, regardless of the obstacles and distractions that they face from learning at home.
