My Students

My primary goal working with the students is not only to teach them the knowledge, but also to get them passionate about learning.

The majority of students in our area are economically disadvantaged.

Parents visit their children's schools less frequently than do other parents and are less involved in homework and school projects. Our school and teachers must struggle and strive in the process of directing these students to experience learning in a way that helps them realize how important education is in their lives.

My Project

I would like to create an extra opportunity for my students to read with the use of technology. Use of a Kindle Fire in the classroom will motivate my struggling readers to practice more. Many of the students have never experienced reading with the use of technology. I could implement this great tool in reading stations as well as during small group instruction. Finally, I could reward my struggling students with some minutes of silent reading on the kindle.

The purpose of my project is to increase the reading fluency among my students.

More rigorous texts and academic vocabulary demand fluency for successful comprehension of what is read. This equipment would greatly engage my students in the reading practice.
