We are teaching math students at a suburban high school where almost 50% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. I have high achieving students who choose to take challenging courses such as pre-calculus and AP Calculus. We also teach students who need concrete, hands-on, real world innovative lessons and manipulative to understand complex ideas.
Not all of these students can afford innovative supplies or technology, such as graphing calculators, for their math and science classes.
We want these students to have access to resources like textbooks, manipulatives, supplies, and technology that they can use each day to prepare for their future. Teachers also need access to technology to create innovative and engaging lessons.
Your support will help students do well in math classes and on their tests.
My Project
My high school math department needs Apple Pencils to write on the iPads our school provided. We can use these to project what we are writing onto TVs in our classrooms or make help videos to post for students.
During this unexpected distance learning we are realizing what technology is useful and one of the greatest resources is our iPads to make help videos and to write and work math problems during Zoom or Google Meet sessions.
Apple Pencils would be more helpful. We have teachers writing on their iPads with their fingernails to create help videos and work math problems live with students.
