My Students
My second grade students come from various cultural backgrounds and live in a diverse community in an inner city. Many come from low-income homes and several speak English as a second language. They come to school with inquisitive minds and a desire to learn. We set our learning goals weekly and work diligently together to achieve them.
My students are engaged and strive to be the best they can be.
Each day presents new opportunities to share their love of learning in many creative ways. Providing each student with the best possible environment to maximize their learning experience is of great importance in helping to attain each students' goals. It is important for this population of students to have access to hands-on materials that help support the curriculum they are learning about.
My Project
My students need spacious and sturdy work tables to complete collaborative work, math explorations, Guided Reading and more.
These tables will replace old hand-me-down tables that have been repaired several times and are still shaky.
Occasionally, the legs give out and the tables collapse. We have had several close calls of students almost getting hurt. Students will be able to work safely without the fear of the tables falling on them.
Students will feel special and important getting new classroom furniture that has come from Donors Choose. They love to receive new materials and this will help motivate them to work throughout the day.
