My Students

My students are absolutely amazing in every way. Our class is complete with 25 enthusiastic, curious, and animated first graders from a range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our class is an integrated co-teaching (ICT) classroom meaning that a portion of our students have special needs. Our needs range from speech and language disorders to autism but none of the labels stop any of the students from trying their hardest and always exceeding expectations. These 25 students are dedicated and excelling in the classroom is the norm!

Our class of students are a unique, clever, determined, and persistent bunch with a range of interests and needs - making each and every lesson new and exciting!

My co-teacher and I take a very hands-on approach to education which allows students to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.

My Project

My students need a set of plastic book bins to keep their everyday materials (book baggie, math/science/social studies notebooks, writing folder and pencil case). These book bins see high traffic and the cardboard set that we currently have are falling apart. I have spent time taping them up but they are just no longer doing the job. These book bins will ensure that each student has a place to put and organize their materials.

The plastic bins are light enough that they can be moved from their spot to their desk but sturdy enough that they will not break!

These bins will make a huge different in our daily routines and will ensure that no academic time is lost. My students also need a variety of other storage options to help organize our art and math materials. The current options that we have are not idea as the materials are falling through the current baskets that we have. The new bins will help us stay organized and will help increase independence as students will be able to get and put away materials without any teacher assistance!
