“The important thing in science is not so much to obtain new facts as to discover new ways of thinking about them,” said William Bragg Sr and I would love for my students to discover these new ways of thinking.
We are a first grade class in a small charter school in California.
Many of the students at this school come from families who can provide the items that are necessary, but often not much in excess. The students in my class are a wonderful bunch of kids and they love learning about their world and nature. My students are hungry for learning and as their teacher, I want to give them every opportunity to learn.
My Project
I would like to provide my students will books and supplies that help them to explore necessary science concepts in a fun, interesting and informative way. With your support, this project will give my students two sets of books all about matter and weather as well as two sets of classification materials for grouping sets of matter, animals and weather. This project will also provide them with several hands-on centers, including one for exploring whether different items sink or float and how different materials feel. Using a combination of these items, my students will learn all that they need to know about science before moving on to 2nd grade.
My students love to explore the world around them and are hungry to learn everything there is to know.
With your support, my students will be able to do this exploration while having fun and learning too. We thank you in advance for your support.
