Every year my sixth grade students love to hear about the Greek Myths that I read to them from our one and only class copy of D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths. It is so worn that it is literally falling apart in my hands. Yet, it is a wonderful way for my students to study ancient Greek culture, and in so doing, to develop a love of history. D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths, through text and pictures in an oversized volume, captures all the gods, goddesses and legendary figures of ancient Greece in a relaxed, fun, yet educational tone. It is truly a classic that my students cherish each year. My proposal is to purchase five new books so that my classes can break into study groups (each group with a book) so they can all enjoy the book at the same time and not have to wait for me to read it or pass it around to share. Help make the study of history in my sixth grade classes this year - and in years to come - the enjoyable experience it can be by helping me to get multiple copies of this book into my classroom.
