Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a low income school where 73% of the families are at poverty level. The school is located in the projects part of the city. I am a special education teacher for 6th grade. I teach a study skills class to help sharpen my students' academic skills. Almost all of my students are ELLs (English language learners).
I have 15 students who I service at the 6th grade level.
The middle school I work at is in the Projects where there is a lot of gang presence and the area is very low income. 95% of the student are Hispanic and ELL students. My students are eager to lean and to better themselves.
My Project
My students will utilize these activities to sharpen their mathematical skills as well as social skills as they play these games in small groups. They will get to play the games on Friday as a reward for completing all of their homework on time, as well as passing quizzes and tests.
These products will help to motivate my students to strive for excellence in the school setting.
These boardgames will help them to sharpen skills while having fun at the same time.
