This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have a wide variety of children in my classroom. We are a Title I school in a military town, so many of our students come and go. As a resource teacher, I teach every child in the school so my classroom hosts children that are high achieving, special needs, and all the ones in between.

Many of our families are lower income and have a wide range of family dynamics.

This variety means we have to reach further to help our kids succeed. Our aim is to make each student feel needed and give them the confidence to achieve their goals.

My Project

The art room is the classroom that seats the tiniest kinder to the tallest fifth grader. We have wiggly workers, wanderers, and steady sitters. Student's time in the art room should allow them to work at their best, no matter their choice in seating. Stools allow for movement, storage, and easier working time.

Stools allow students of various sizes and movement preference work with ease.

Having a variety of seating allows students to work more comfortably at their tables or easels. Taller students can sit on shorter stools, so their knees are not knocking the table and they aren't hunched over tables. Shorter students can sit easily on taller stools without having to stand in order to see their work.

Storage is also much easier due to size of the stools. I encourage my students to move throughout the room and stools fit nicely under tables so students are not tripping on them while on their way to the supply table.
