My students need a classroom rug to designate a common meeting space and to build a strong community of learners. This Sunny Day rug includes letters and numbers which will be incorporated into everyday lessons/activities!
Our classroom is working to develop a community of strong learners who love learning! I am fortunate enough to teach over thirty kindergartners who come from all different backgrounds. Some of my students are English Language Learners and not all students have the support and resources at home to become successful. I strive to provide my students with all the materials they may need to grow as a learner.
My students are at the perfect age to love learning and I want to see this continue!
Kindergarten is the first year of learning that students need to succeed. They enter the classroom with the biggest smiles on their faces, ready to start their day. Engaging students and creating hands-on activities is a great way to reach all my learners. Their eagerness to learn new things and apply their knowledge makes my day and job more rewarding!
My Project
Kindergarten students spend a lot of their day gathered together! From morning meetings to calendar time, read alouds to independent reading, center activities to playing games together, my students spend much of their day building a strong connection with one another. Incorporating this rug into my classroom will give my students a comfortable area to grow as active learners.
This Sunny Day rug will not only become our classroom meeting area but the letters and numbers opens a large can of learning oppurtunities.
This rug would become a learning feature in our classroom, helping students to identify their ABC’s and 123’s. Students could start the year by sorting letter tiles/magnets and evolve to sorting objects by their beginning sound. In math students could sort number cards or match number quantities. This is only the beginning of possibilities this rug would bring to our classroom.
