Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach in a Chicago Public School where over 90% of our students receive free lunch. I am a third grade teacher who teaches 21 motivated students. However, eighteen of my twenty one students write essays at about a first grade level. My students must learn to write to express themselves appropriately. Knowing my students' learning styles, I know that portable writing stations in my classroom will enhance all 21 of my students' ability to write effectively and enable me to teach my students writing in a more effective manner. I would like for my students to have four(4) portable writing stations filled with writing supplies. My 21 students would use these writing stations for their (1)expository,(2)persuasive, (3)narrative, and (4)creative or narrative writing. This would allow my students to practice writing for various reasons daily and help them learn to successfully write for all situations. Your support is appreciated. Together we can prepare students for the future.
