Students Solving Today's Global Problems With Computer Science and STEM!
Help me give my students a chance to participate in a competition through a partnership with Honeywell and GA Tech where they will use the Micro:bits and Maqueen to use computer science and STEM to create a solution!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are living in a world that has an increasing demand for critical thinking, problem solving, and coding skills. Even though we are learning in a virtual environment, my students are eager to have hands-on activities. The microbits will help my students make connections between simulated code and application. Not only will they be able to see what they code on a screen, but they'll be able to program a physical object to see that code implemented. My students will be able to solve real word problems using their coding skills.
My Project
If funded these micro:bits and compatible Maqueen Rovers will allow my students the opportunity to enter into a competition hosted by Georgia Tech and Honeywell.
It is also possible that in the near future some students will be at home learning virtually and some will be in the classroom.
Increasing the need to have enough micro:bits and Maqueens available for their use.
My students need to have access to their own micro:bit and/or Maqueen in order to not have to share during the pandemic and to reduce the chance of spreading any germs. Especially because technology like this is not easy to clean.
