I teach third grade at a title one school. This school has a large majority of Hispanic and low income families. I differentiate my instruction based on the students needs. Included in our classrooms are the ESE, English language learners, students with ADD and ADHD. The classroom size usually consists of twenty students.
The students come to school excited about learning and love exploring with new technology and materials.
Every student is unique and has their own learning style. At home the majority of these students do not have access to the same technology, books, and resources as that of an upper class family. I want all the students to think of class as a fun and exciting time to learn new things!
My Project
Scholastic encourages students to want to read and makes them eager to jump right in to their favorite article.
Scholastic articles give them a better understanding of the stories by looking a non-fiction text features such as photographs, tables, charts, and surveys provided.
In addition to this amazing reading resource, students are also able to access the Scholastic News online resources. This feature is included in the magazine subscription and gives students opportunities to watch videos, play games, and study vocabulary words from each issue! There are also tools for teachers to assist students who read above or below level. All around, this resource will allow our classroom to thrive!
