My students need a sewing machine so they can have a full theatre experience by becoming a more active part of costume design and construction.

My Students

My students desire to do more and be better every day. They have great talent, but not always the confidence that they need. We work very hard on developing our talents. We also try to give a complete theater experience. We make all of our costumes and set pieces. In this community, many students are coming to us with very little. We are considered a high poverty area, but we do not let that stop our giving them a complete experience. What we give them is a great, confidence building experience.

My Project

This sewing machine will allow my students to become a more active part of the costume design and construction for our productions. We currently have no working machines. Once we raise the money to buy this machine and can raise money to get a donated machine fixed, we will be able to teach more students how to work the machines. This skill will help to build their confidence and give them a skill that will last them a lifetime. So many students want to be a part of the process and we have tried to include them. This will make it possible!
