I am a fifth grade teacher at a school located in Chelsea. The school serves a range of students including low-income families, students with disabilities, and English-Language learners. I am lucky to work with thirty-two amazing students who come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds who all strive to learn and become the best version of themselves.
With many different learners, comes the need for different seating options to ensure that ALL students have what they need in order to achieve.
My students need flexible seating options to support their diverse learning needs. The students in my class have a strong desire to learn and do well in all academic areas. Access to these tools will help them work towards their goals.
My Project
Access to flexible seating options is one way I can meet the needs of the unique and amazing students in my class. In my classroom I have students who all learn differently. Some students need space, while others need sensory input to focus, and others need the freedom to constantly move.
The items from this project will ensure the success of my students by providing them with the supports they need to learn and focus on achieving their academic goals!
The floor seats will allow my students to sit with back support on the rug. This flexible seating option will also allow my students to lay on their stomachs with inclined support to read, write, or even engage in math activities on the floor.
Studies have shown that access to tools like the Bouncing Chair Bands have helped to reduce stress, and support students who need to move in order to learn.
