This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students absolutely love learning. They walk into the classroom every day eager to dive into a new lesson. They always begin each day striving to do better than the last. They are constantly asking if they can read longer and do more work. Additionally, my students’ parents are extremely supportive and hardworking. They truly want the best for their kids and use our school as a resource.

I teach Special Education in a resource room with amazing students who come from a low-income neighborhood in Chicago where 98% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Unfortunately, our school cannot meet all of their needs as we do not have the funding to buy the supplies to help them.

My Project

My students need some real life work experience. I want to prepare my students for the future. They need to understand the importance of money and how to make change. In order to do that, I want my students to gain some experience with running business at school.

With your donations, my students will have the materials needed to make a coffee cart on wheels.

They will be able to also gain more social skills experience, as they will need to speak to their customers. They will be able to spend the money they earn buying more supplies to keep the cart running.
