Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredibly hard-working young adults who strive to learn new things daily despite their moderate to severe disabilities. Our Adult Transition Program is here to provide them with the training and support they need to be successful in our community and in the world.
Having productive adults making independent, positive change in the world is my number one priority!
My students come from a small, rural community with limited resources and limited options for integration into so many things that we take for granted in bigger cities. It is my passion to ensure that my students don't miss out.
Exposure to technology, strong life skills, and the knowledge of how to be successful independently are only part of what we work on daily. My students surprise me each day with their excitement and positive energy! I am ready for them to take on the world!
My Project
My students are adults who are getting ready to integrate themselves into the workforce as part of their move towards independence. With this project, my students will be organized and prepared to look for employment and learn to manage life skills.
Our Adult Transition Program is creating leaders!
My students need to be motivated to work on their writing, padfolios to carry with them on job interviews, and supplies to keep their job hunt and community involvement organized. Our learning goal is for each student to log 5 community outreach moments and provide contact information for each moment. As we track and record their community outreach, my students are developing skills and establishing a network of support.
My students are from a variety of backgrounds and function at a wide variety of levels. These materials help me meet them where they are at as we move towards their future.
