Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is Title I, and most of our students are second language learners with their first language being Spanish. I have 25 highly active students in my classroom who are eager to learn English. Students also rotate amongst 4 other classrooms, so these resources not only meet the needs of my own classroom, but that of 4 other teachers for a total of 120 students. These students are more than two years below grade level and have multiple needs. Many of my students are also special education students who have difficulty sitting still and staying at a traditional desk. One challenge I face daily is keeping students engaged and focused on their goals.
My goal is to engage my students in the classroom at all times.
One way for me to do this is to provide my students with a variety of engaging activities to stimulate their learning.
Allowing students the ability to have choice in their learning allows them to be more engaged throughout the day.
My Project
The VersaTiles Math and Literacy Kits will be a fantastic addition to our classroom. Students love hands on activities! The VersaTiles Math and Literacy Kits will provide my students with extra math and literacy practice using hands on materials.
The VersaTiles Math and Literacy Kits will allow my students to be engaged in their math and literacy learning and will provide them with interactive learning that makes math and literacy more meaningful.
With VersaTiles, students can work independently or in small groups. VersaTiles allows them to check their own answers, which makes them responsible for their learning. Students always can use extra math and literacy practice and VersaTiles will be a fun way to enhance our math and literacy curriculum. We cannot wait to add the VersaTiles Math and Literacy Kits to our classroom.
