This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a product of the Chicago Public School district, I know the issues my students face daily. Yet, despite their circumstances, my students want to succeed in life, overcome all obstacles and make their families proud! My students are strong, vibrant and full of life, always ready to do the task at hand, but often wish there was more to class than just pen and paper. My students are respectful and well-mannered. Unfortunately, often times they have one too many odds stacked against them. It is my goal that a lack of resources not be another issue they face!

My Project

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a classic novel that my students should have access to. Our district recently provided us with new textbooks - however, our book room has very few books that align with our new curriculum.

The Great Gatsby is a novel that students will be able to read, analyze & discuss.

This project will provide me with a class set of books that will be shared by at least 90 students! With its rich context & engaging background, this novel will allow students to not only fall in love with a story but help students to become better readers.
