Students Need Face Masks to Stay Healthy

My Students

As a special education teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district in southeastern Kentucky, I teach Pre-K-2nd grade. My students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Most parents are unemployed because no jobs are available. I want my students to in all opportunities available in our classroom.

My special education students can and are successful because they are the best.

We have high expectations. I teach them to be positive and to look at the future to know they can achieve their dreams.

My Project

Having child-sized masks in the classroom lets me provide masks for those students who forget their mask, lose their mask, or when their mask gets dirty from sneezing, drinking water, or when the mask falls on the ground.

With this item, I am able to keep students healthy, safe, and in school so that they can learn without disruption to their education.

We are out of masks. A student needed a mask so I gave him an adult-size mask. Next, when the student put it on, it was too big. Last, the other students in class laughed and the student became upset. We went to the office to get a new mask for this student. They didn’t have many. I thought I’m going to write a DonorsChoose project for masks. Students come to me all the time and need a new mask. Thank you always. God Bless
