My Students
The first thing every day that my students do is read silently for 10 minutes and then reflect on their reading for that day. I am trying to show them that they can love books and reading! It is a way for them to explore the world! They are also required to do projects over their choice books.
My students are a diverse group of freshman at a school in Missouri. We are a poorer area, and the kids are just now starting to see the love of reading. Our school is one of three in our district and is moving more towards students' choice when it comes to reading. It order to fully do this, they need a classroom library full of novels that are relevant to them.
My Project
My students would LOVE to have these books! The books are all young adult novels, so the topics are things that they are experiencing or have experienced. My students will use these on a daily basis! My students will be able to explore the world through so many different authors' eyes. They will see examples of great writing and how to develop narratives. The results from my students getting these books for a classroom library are endless.
This donation will help kids find a love for reading. They will be able to experience so much more, read stories about things they are going through, and see great examples of different forms of writing. This will make a massive impact on their learning, reading stamina, and reading comprehension which in turn will increase their writing abilities.
