Help me give my students the opportunity to not only see books as a window into other worlds but also as a mirror of who they are themselves.

This classroom is filled with kids who are passionate learners. They are incredible. They are unique. They deserve the best.
Just like all 5th graders do, they care about the world that surrounds them and are excited to learn more about it.
These students have rich, diverse cultures and experiences. In addition to the US, their families come from countries all over the world and speak a variety of languages. I am beyond excited to learn all about them in the coming months!
These books are highly engaging, diverse, and will help my students become motivated, passionate readers. They include poetry, inspiring biographies, nonfiction, literature, and graphic novels. Students will get to explore fantastic worlds and worlds from our storied past.
With these incredible titles, students will not only get to escape into other exciting literary worlds, but they will also get to see themselves reflected in the pages.
My students have rich backgrounds, cultures, and linguistic heritage, but unfortunately, like many classrooms, our library does not reflect them. I believe that kids need to see themselves in the books that they are surrounded by and many of my students aren't.
Please help my students see themselves in the stories they read!!!
