My students need to have Google Tablets with cases in the classroom to learn 21st Century skills. Currently, most of our technology is over 10 years old and will not load Google or educational apps.
HGF is a school that has created a challenging and rigorous environment while encouraging every child to be a free thinker! The power of yet and a growth mindset are the inspiration for our school and our 5th-grade classroom environment. Students encourage each other by adding YET when another student replies, "I can't do it," and the classroom will add, "YET!" This philosophy helped carry us to 122% growth, midyear. It has changed the student's way of thinking and is taking them to cognitive places they never thought possible as 5th graders.
"Realizing dreams, one student at a time!" Our goal is to inspire students to find new ways (the way that works best for them) in acquiring new goals and skills.
One of the ways we would like to do this by increasing the technology in our schools which currently is sadly minimal and outdated.
We are an elementary school that offers extracurricular activities such as robotics, coding, drama, chorus, band & strings, basketball, free homework club & tutoring. Our teachers and staff are generous, hardworking, and conscientious.
My Project
Currently, classrooms teach to the levels the majority of students are at but with Google Tablets and protective covers, we can scaffold students where they are, allowing them to excel due to lessons that are pinpointed to their specific needs. We are fundraising and campaigning, to find the resources we need so that all students may have the technological equipment they need to advance and live up to their full potential.
