My classroom is home to 80 students with a wide range of abilities including special education, second language learners, learning disabled, mainstream learners and higher level thinkers. We are a Title I school with students from a diverse backgrounds, and a high population of low socioeconomic households.
I want my classroom to be a second home to each of my kiddos!
Often students do not have the supplies needed for daily activities, so I want to provide the essentials.
It is important to meet all of my students' needs, know each student and provide a learning experience that matters! Students learn reading and Texas history in my classroom.
My Project
Our classroom needs interest based reading materials. I want my students to find that in a variety of magazines. After learning about my students' interests, I have found several magazines that can be delivered on a monthly basis to add to our reading station. Students often think of reading as BOOKS only- and that often has a negative connotation.
This provides an opportunity for my students to read what interests them, therefore creating a positive experience they will want to do again.
I want my students to find a love for reading in many different ways and find what they enjoy reading.
Also, I want to teach responsibility, so we need a book stapler. We can use this to keep our magazines in good condition and not waste your donation money or reading opportunities.
