My fifth grade students are hardworking and come from homes that don't have the technological advances some Californians take for granted. My students have the drive to push their thinking and learn new things. They are amazing at what they do. When they are given new resources, they use them to assist their learning in many ways. With the right resources, these students will soar to great heights and surpass my expectations as they have in many ways already this year.
My Project
Over the summer, teachers at my school use their own money to shop for their school supplies for their students to have at their fingertips on the first day of school as I have done for many years. While we ask our families to donate items, it can be very difficult for some of them to provide these supplies for their child.
With these supplies they will use on a daily basis, my future fifth graders will be effective learners and have the learning tools they need for success.
In addition to these supplies for my students' desks, I am hoping to receive funding for printer ink and labels to freshen up our library genres and label our notebooks and folders.
