We are a Title I school in a major city and a lot of our students come from difficult home lives. It's a high poverty area and this year our school budget has been cut severely. We need your help!
We are one of the few schools in the area that has a strong art program, and I am so grateful for it.
Over the past seven years that I have been here, I have seen more and more students turn to art as a form of expression. These students love art, and I think it's important to keep that love growing.
One of my favorite things about being an Art teacher is seeing how creative and talented students can be! Some students work slower than others and often ask to take their artwork home so they can work on it there. The problem with that is though I allow it, the artwork ends up folded, slightly torn, and dented in random places. This can be so disheartening when what they drew was truly amazing!
I am asking for portfolios for students to share when taking artwork home.
The portfolios would be borrowed from the artwork and returned when the student is using it. Not only do Art portfolios help keep students' work safe, but it also makes the student feel like their artwork is important and gives them a sense of pride.
