My students are a great group of kids! They are inquisitive and voracious readers, they love exploring in science and getting their hands dirty in the garden. We go on walkabouts of the school campus and they excitedly go outside to read books, explore trees, or dig in the school garden. They enjoy learning math and science and connecting it all to reading. They voraciously work on the computer and learn technology skills. They are hungry for learning and reading.
My Project
My students will be listening to me read quality literature through this project. I am switching from teaching kindergarten to teaching 4th grade and want a collection of read alouds that are quality literature. I have reviewed all these books, and have read the first chapter and sometimes have been inspired to keep reading and flipping forward page by page.
There are so many good books out there, but these are really great for reading aloud - they have rich language and description and really allow you to get into the tale.
From being buried alive and escaping with a thump to a day in the life of a rattlesnake trapped in a cage to a boy who was suddenly lost and then found his way home, these are great books that I want my students to hear and reflect on.
