My students need these to complete day to day tasks. They are sharing materials such as glue and pencils because they are scarce. Construction paper is limited, too.
Do you remember coming to school and completing art projects? Do you remember not having to worry about supplies? Unfortunately, these students have to experience shortage of supplies, so I am doing everything I can do ensure they have the experiences we did as children.
My students are the future of our society.
Sure, you may think kindergarten is not a big deal, but it is far from the truth. The first day of kindergarten is the first day of the rest of their lives. My students are full of energy and excitement for learning. All my students want to do is learn and create new, innovative things as they grow. Without my students' happiness, I cannot say that I would be the person I am. They come from less fortunate homes where they cannot afford their own supplies and are considered low-socio economic status. My school has the same attributes being a Title 1 school, meaning most students are on free or reduced lunch due to parental income. My school is an older, small school that is family oriented, but our population is rough, so every bit counts. Make sure that our future citizens are equipped with what they need in order to be successful, please!
My Project
Through the use of these materials, students will be able to engage in cooperative, social skills. Arts is something that students are unable to get all of the time, and with the right materials, myself, as a master teacher, can ensure that these items donated will be put to use and art will remain alive within their hearts. Students will be able to create the crafts and develop fine motor skills that allow them to move on in their academic careers. Instead of 18 to 20 students sharing two glue sticks, time would be saved if there were more supplies. Students will engage in fun activities through these crafts, but not only are they creating art, they will also be learning. With the paper, they may create a project about the Mayflower, or a greeting card developing their social skills. The power of art is remarkable when you let the students take charge and the creations are endless. Do we want students to lose out on the opportunity that could potentially be their career?
The donations will significantly improve the classroom of having supplies at hand.
Right now, although sharing is taught, there is a lot of sharing that takes place. Due to limited resources, my students often miss out on making the crafts that make learning more meaningful. In kindergarten, students should be able to make crafts for their parents. Students should be able to develop an art activity to go along with what they are learning. Students will treasure these creations for years to come!
