Students in Charge of Their Own Learning Starts With Choice!
Help me give my students more choice in how they work around the room! The 3 wobble chairs, 3 lap desks, and 5 stools will make them more comfortable when choosing the best fit spot.
My students enjoy movement and hands-on activities the most. It is hard for most of them to stay engaged while sitting in a hard, uncomfortable chair or floor all day. They often get fidgety and restless. I would like the opportunity to offer them a variety of flexible seating options that will make them more comfortable while they are learning! A comfortable learning environment will lead to more student engagement, which means more success!
I know that every student in my classroom has preferred places to work but in a traditional classroom, there are no options for students who would rather sit somewhere other than a desk.
In my classroom, I want to offer my students seating choices that will allow them to pick a spot that best suits their learning needs in order to reach their highest potential in all subject areas!
My Project
A diverse group of learners needs a diverse learning space! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! Standard desks and chairs do not meet the needs of my students. Creating flexible seating options that they can choose from is essential to student learning and engagement.

Giving students choice will create a student centered classroom, which is necessary to keep them engaged in our learning throughout the whole school day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. Providing wobble seats, lap desks and stools will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning. The wobble seats, which allow small movement, will be used for students to bring to their desk or writing table. The lap desks will provide another option for students who like to sit on the ground and work and the stools will provide students with a taller seating option other than their desk chairs. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
