Mrs. Conley from Charlotte NC is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a 3D printer so they can make their creative designs a reality. This will give them the capability to see a 3 Dimensional replica of the item(s) they create through the software.

Our school is an urban comprehensive high school with a very large diverse population. We have many programs that are unique to our school such as the Academy of Engineering and Biomedical Science. Our goal in Career and Technical Education is for every student to be ready for their next level of education or a career field. With the opportunity to learn through 3D printing, students will gain a very valuable 21st skill that would make them competitive at the next level.
In our Academy of Engineering and biomedical classes students take Project Lead the Way, PLTW, courses that prepare them for a career in engineering and the healthcare system allowing students to earn college credit through RTI and Iowa University.
Part of the PLTW curriculum allows students to create projects using Revit, Inventor and other specialized software.
Our students would really benefit in their learning if they could convert their project into tangible items. This would be possible if we were able to provide students with 3D printing capabilities. With school budgets extremely tight and having to order other items that are absolutely necessary, we have had to put this opportunity on
The 3D printer would allow our students to really enjoy and get a better understanding of the project based course through the Project Lead the Way curriculum by adding the enhanced 3 Dimensional aspect to their projects.
By donating to this project, you would create a new life to our student's projects by giving them the tangible product.
Students see exactly what their projects would look like including actual size and details. It would add an excitement to a very difficult curriculum. The student would be able learn by doing and for visual learners it would add a new dimension to their understanding. The printer would allow students to have a different perspective of the course.
