My students need tablets in order to utilize online resources. Students will perform online dissections, virtual labs, and find sources for research projects.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school where 100 percent of my students receive a free lunch. Many of my students do not have the best home life, yet they come to school with a positive attitude hoping to learn and create a better future for themselves. I teach at a career center where students learn better kinesthetically so I’d like to be able to engage them with more labs rather than worksheets. They are hard workers and deserve every opportunity at success.
My Project
Currently I share a computer cart with several other classrooms. Most of my classes have around 30 students in them. There are only 22 computers and most of them do not work properly. They do not hold their charge so they need to be plugged in in order to work and most restart throughout the class period. Receiving a classroom set of tablets (which is my long term goal) will allow students to learn without interruption and get the most out of each activity. They will be doing virtual labs, dissections and research projects.
I will be incorporating STEM into my classroom by utilizing the tablets with my hydroponics system and corner market.
We will be taking inventory of the plants and graphing their growth and vegetable production on the tablets. The students will also regulate the amount of light and nutrients added to the plants and determine the optimum amount needed for produce production.
