Students Begging for New Books in Our Classroom Library

My Students
I teach in a small, rural district where a high percentage of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Graduating class sizes are usually under 100 students. Students develop strong relationships with each other and with staff members.
My students care deeply about their close-knit community, and people often refer to the school as the heart of the community. When my students write about their goals for the future, many of them mention wanting to help others in some way.
My Project
The books are needed for students to use as independent reading selections and/or as their book group selections. Some of the books being requested are the newer books in a series that students have read and are hoping to have in our classroom library soon.
There are many kids who are eager to read in my classroom, but we do not have the budget to purchase the books they are interested in and asking for. Having the new books in our classroom library will help my students grow as readers and learners and give them access to a variety of high-interest books.
