This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
When you enter my classroom, I hope that you will see the strong bond of a family. My students won't be quiet. My classroom is buzzing with collaborative learning, positive encouragement, and excited learners. Students face many challenges outside the classroom; in the classroom, they feel the family support.
25 future leaders will be found when you enter my classroom.
These leaders are constantly challenging themselves and others. They are asking questions, creating projects, and learning together. They work hard and try their best every single day. Each student takes control of their learning in the classroom and is not afraid to take chances and make mistakes.
My Project
In First grade, it is our time to teach students how to read! What if the books we read then helped them also to learn while reading? These books will provide that time to escape their world and the rich opportunities to learn many different skills that students need in order to be successful readers.
Providing students with engaging and illustration-rich books can open a whole new world for them.
My students come from all different backgrounds, though most don't have the opportunity to have such wonderful books in their homes. These books will provide a copy for each of our five-classrooms in first to have a copy to go along with our rooted-in-reading program. These books can also provide cross-curricular opportunities and STEM ideas.
