Help me give my students the materials they will need to create an enterprise for our class. We plan to begin a business where we create and design gifts/decorations with balloons as well as custom t-shirts.
I teach in a self-contained classroom full of bright, exceptional children. These children attend a Title 1 high-school in North Carolina. Even though these children are from a poor community their love for one another and others is so rich.
These children always walk into my classroom excited to begin the day- there is never a dull moment in our class!
We love reading together and learning from one another.
My classroom is a 'home' for many of my students- usually more like 'home' than their actual residence. For this reason, I strive to do my very best in providing my students with both their educational needs as well as their mental and physical needs. I am so thankful and blessed to have such a wonderful group of ladies and gentlemen in my classroom that love me as much as I do them!
My Project
These materials will help my students be able to develop an enterprise and skills they will use for a life time. My students come from an under privileged background where their friends and other family members have given up on life or turned to an alternative way of making a living that is not suitable for most. Knowing this I want to give my students the knowledge base and skills to be able to potentially create a business of their own following High School. My students will learn how to manage and operate a balloon business including: creating columns, arches, centerpieces, and balloon gifts. As well as operating a custom designed T-shirt business. Additional skills they will take will include: budgeting, 21st century online skills through an online business center (like etsy), and money managing skills. We will use our profit money on trips like: special olympics and taking the students to other small businesses around to help them learn about entrepreneurship in the 21st century.
