Many of the students from our rural Maine school are very talented either academically, athletically, and artistically. Many of the students are from low-income families and work hard to balance the demands of school, home, and working their own jobs. They are very passionate about what they are interested in, always ready to share it with the community. Many students have been recognized at the State level
No matter their circumstances my students don't let anything stop their drive to succeed in any field.
My Project
We have started to build a Learning Commons Area in our school for students to work and collaborate together during there study hall periods. The space that we are building this in is very bare and lacking in many technology needs for students. Students are in need of a place that can charge multiple devices, along with the ability to show off their achievements.
As this program is still new we don't have any way for students to display and highlight all their hard work and achievements.
With the TCL RokuTV along with the mount, we hope to share students artwork, athletic achievements, and theatrical productions with the school community as a whole, while starting to create a welcoming space for the students to work in. We plan to upload student artwork, show videos of school theatrical performances and share highlights from sporting events right now, with the hopes of expanding the programming later on. The charging station will allow students to have a place that they can charge their devices quickly in order to keep working.
