Ms. Anderson from Saint Louis MO is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need equipment that will help them create broadcasts and a newspaper. I would like a Sony Camcorder and iPads to film and edit videos.

The community around our school is low income/high poverty. My students come to school already facing many challenges and trauma that no child ever should. Despite this, my students come to school ready to learn and ready for new educational challenges.
Knowing how to use technology is an asset for today's students.
The majority of my students have limited access to the internet and technology. In today's world, these students are at a disadvantage without being trained in basic technology. They are also not exposed to career paths and hobbies that they may enjoy. I like to not only teach my students the content for our class, but also prepare them for life after high school. Today, this means knowing how to use technology and being innovative. I would like to be able to give this opportunity to them.
The journalism program at our school is brand new. We are excited to pioneer this endeavor; however, we are lacking the necessary technology needed to be successful.
With the iPad, camcorder, digital voice recorder, and microphone, students will be able to see their voices matter.
Students can see journalism in action and truly realize what is involved in the profession. Students will be able to create videos, podcasts, and other media that they can be proud of.
Students will also be able to work with technology they may not have used before. This can help spark an interest in a future career in journalism or even IT. This is a class that is designed to prepare students for life after high school. By having a chance to explore new technology and the power of their own voices and creativity, I believe they will be ready for the challenges after high school.
