Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I possess a passionate group of students, each with their own learning levels and styles that make them unique. All of them bring open and eager minds to the classroom each day, which encourages me to teach and provide for them to the best of my ability.
Most of my students are English language learners of Hispanic heritage, with many being the first or second generation of their families to be born in America.
This has created a language barrier for many of them, one that is compounded by the fact that they are not often exposed to academic content at home.
However, what makes them so special is their willingness to take responsibility for their own learning. They use every minute in class the best they can to ensure they take advantage of any opportunity to learn and often ask me what they can do to extend their learning to home. Thank you so much for any contribution you can make toward their learning!
My Project
With the Fire tablets, the students will be able access to ELA programs such as Epic, Imagine Learning and Read Theory, all of which are critical as they make and monitor individualized learning tracks for my students to aid in their learning. They will also be able to access math programs, such as Freckle and Moby Max, to increase their numeracy skills. Most importantly, when using the Fire tablets in class, the students will be able to access hundreds of leveled reading books that are provided to them on the school's eClass page.
With these Fire Tablets in the classroom at all times, the students are granted easy access to vital online resources.
Using the Fire tablets to have the students take advantage of these online resources, I am able to see the progression my students make within the school year and alter instruction to double down focus on academic standards they may be weaker in. In addition to this, the students enjoy viewing their own progression as well, which motivates them to continue working toward their learning goals.
