My students need basic school supplies; glue sticks, pencils, crayons, and scissors.
My students need multilevel math activities to target their varying math skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Remember getting ready for the first day of a new school year and the excitement of having your backpack full of school supplies? What if that excitement was replaced by panic knowing your backpack was empty, compounding the challenges of learning new skills and concepts.
I teach a wonderful group of third grade students that have little support or guidance outside of school but they show up ready to work hard every day.
Our school is a Title I School; where all of our students receive free breakfast, free or reduced lunch, and a free fresh fruit/vegetable each afternoon. Additionally, many of our students' families receive a monthly bag of food from our local food bank.
My Project
The items that I'm requesting range from basic school supplies (glue sticks, pencils, crayons) to leveled math practice cards. The leveled math will be used to help differentiate math instruction for my students. Additionally, my students have limited exposure and experience and the books will help them learn nonfiction concepts more easily.
The donations for this project will help my students by removing obstacles to their learning; the need for basic school supplies.
It will also help them improve their math skills and introduce them to concepts they have limited experience with.
