This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a very low income/high poverty area where they face many different challenges both in their communities and inside their school. Many of many students have unique communication and processing needs. These students often need modifications and accommodations in order to be successful in their academics and social environments.
All of my students have Individualized Education Plans and need specialized instruction that includes assistive technology, alternative seating, special writing utensils, manipulatives, and other supports.
This year is a completely new year for us as we are teaching and learning virtually. My students benefit greatly from multi-sensory learning, and I want to provide as many resources for them as possible in this new adventure of ours.
My Project
These materials will help me teach my students organizational skills. The binders will house the work that they have completed during each semester. We are virtual however, I want the students to have a tangible item to refer back to to show their learning. The dividers will help divide their work into different subjects and goals. Having the binders and dividers will allow me to start a system that I can implement with them. The sheet protectors will provide longer lasting work. Each week, I will add their work to a sheet protector and the students will then organize their work into their binders. The labels will help me organize materials for the classroom and the students as well.
