My students need flexible seating options, such as butterfly stools, which can be put together in groups of four or used individually. Flexible seating options, such as lap desks are great for independent work.
My third-graders are as independent as can be! Each student has unique characteristics that contribute to our classroom community and make it a positive and healthy environment.
These students express themselves in their work and play in our classroom and I'm looking for more ways to give them more choice in their day.
Children aren't meant to sit all day in silence, so I am looking for ways to allow them more choices in where they choose to work on a day-to-day basis.
My Project
My goal for this project is to provide students with a choice in their own learning. Since they have little control over the assignments and content each day, I believe they deserve a choice in how they learn.
Children are not meant to be silent and in a seat all day.
By being able to choose where they sit they have greater control over their learning environment and productivity increases, as does their ability to self-regulate their learning process.
Butterfly stools are very helpful in the classroom because they can be put together in a group of four to allow for group work, or taken apart to give students time to work alone. The lap desks are useful for any seating option to give students a solid work space. Please help me collect options for flexible seating including sit spots as I work to allow students more opportunities to create a learning environment more suitable to their needs.
