Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." - Dr. Carl Sagan - My students have yet to truly discover that somewhere. Fortunately, through new hands-on science resources my students will be able to find one of the many somewheres that incredible knowledge is waiting.
My students are bright and inquisitive individuals.
In science, they ask more questions than you can possibly imagine. It is great to see what amazing thinkers they are! They are also ambitious, searching for the answers I am unable to give. My students attend a Title I school and we lack many of the scientific tools that would help answer their many intelligent questions. Each student in my room truly is a scientist itching to explore the scientific world.
My Project
These resources will provide my students with the opportunity to further their scientific knowledge. After learning about each scientific concept, students will then be able to engage in science experiments, games, and other hands-on learning activities that will challenge their thinking. Not only will the students get to hear about life cycles, they will also get to manipulate the life stages of a frog, butterfly, and plant. In addition, they will get to actually watch as a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. Even more students will be able to practice human body concepts through interactive games and readings. These real life learning experiences will forever embed these concepts into the minds of each student.
Each scientific activity purchased through this grant will benefit my students this year as well as the students in the many years to come.
Our society needs individuals that are higher order thinkers and are eager for a challenge. These hands-on science resources will create such thinkers and will continue to drive students towards new heights.
