Learning job skills and job ready skills (soft skills) is a large portion of what my students are doing everyday. My students year long goal is to increase their own level of independence, in all areas of life, and this project will help increase their independence in a job setting.
My students are great kids and young adults at the same time.
The students in my class are all ILS/ED. ILS/ED defined; ILS=Independent Living Skills, students in an ILS class have an Intellectual Disability formerly known as Mentally Retarded. ED=Emotionally Disturbed, these student require a lot of support to help regulate emotions and the resulting behaviors.
This class is a new creation this school year. This class pulls students from other ILS and ED classes that had both diagnoses, but had to go into either program.
My Project
This tablet will allow my students to do many things, the main focus will be to incorporate the device in our student run enterprises. My students make and sell several different items. This device will allow my students to keep track of their own accounts, money available, money made, compare prices while shopping, and they would be able to do all of this while out in the community, away from the classroom.
This project will be a great tool for getting students engaged in their own student run business.
It will create a sense of purpose behind the student run enterprises that they are currently working on, and ones they will develop in the future. This project will allow my students to see the results of their own endeavors as it happens out of the classroom.
