I teach at a rural school that is funded by Title I and has a high poverty level. Most of the students in my class are either on free or reduced lunches. Most students are not interested in school; therefore, it is my goal to make learning fun and active!
Students at this age need extrinsic rewards in order to be motivated to make good choices and give their best effort daily.
My Project
In my classroom, I like to motivate my students with a class store and create a fun learning environment. In order for students to be motivated to make good choices and perform with their best effort, they need to see extrinsic materials like an assortment of candy to motivate them.
Students need to be encouraged to make good choices and providing them with a variety of candy motivates them to stay on task in order to earn money to spend at our weekly store!
From past experiences, a well stocked class store promotes positive behavior and strong work ethic within my students. The more options they have at the store, the more motivated they are to make good choices throughout the day. By providing students a variety of candy options like skittles, gum, and blow pops, it allows them to become excited to make positive choices in order to earn money to purchase the variety of candy that is provided!
