Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The counseling department spends a lot of time printing important documents for our students. Some of the documents printed are as follows: transcripts, letter of recommendations, grade reports, and resumes among many other documents needed within and beyond the classroom setting. While some of these documents can be printed, the reality is that the majority of our students do not have access to a printer outside the school environment. Therefore, it is imperative to have toner available at all times to ensure our students have the documents they need for things such as applying to colleges and jobs for example.

Also, One thing I have learned, as a counselor, is that providing students with snacks plays a big role in motivating students to succeed.

Many of our students do not have the opportunity to eat before coming to school or simply need some boosted energy during the school day. Therefore, as a counselor, I want to be able to have incentives for my students to push them to not give up on success. In our school's case, sometimes a snack is all a student wants and/or needs and I want to ensure that I am able to be an additional trusted adult that our students can rely on to stay on track.
