Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My school is a Title I middle school serving 460 students. I am the librarian and I'm one of a few people at my school that get the wonderful opportunity to help and see all of the students. My school serves students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. My students enjoy using hands-on materials.

My students love books. I gave the entire student body a survey to get their input on new book titles. The books that are listed on this project are the books that my students requested. Students come to the library in hopes of seeing copies of books that they like on the shelves. I value my students' opinions. Help me to reignite my students' love for reading. These books will attract and engage our reluctant readers. The books are just one more tool to help our students to continue to love reading. The books that my students have chosen will certainly be a much needed addition to our library. My students will be thrilled to have more choices. Help me give my students books that they want to read. My students are requesting more books. This is part 5 of my project. There will be more projects with this same goal. I hope to get all of these book projects funded for my students.
